At a time when many workers across the country lived in back to back properties with no outside space, one of Sir Titus Salt’s many gifts to the first residents of Saltaire was the provision of a private yard or garden for each house. These outdoor areas are much appreciated by today’s villagers, many of whom have created charming plots for growing and relaxing.

Rance Booth and Smith Architects in Partnership with Saltaire Festival have created a new open gardens trail for the first week-end of the Festival. You will be able to vote for your favourite garden.
